Enjoy The Transfusion Cocktail On And Off The Golf Course

Though not as well known as other popular summer libations, the Transfusion cocktail is a great way to keep hydrated and catch a buzz. Like the Corpse Reviver and Bloody Mary, this drink likely started as a "hangover cure," with grape juice and ginger ale providing electrolytes and effervescence and vodka providing the hair of the dog that bit you. A known favorite of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, who liked to crush Transfusions following a day on the green, the drink is popular with golfers and is also a perfect choice for BBQs, brunches, and picnics.

Transfusion Cocktail Ingredients

  • 2 oz Vodka
  • 1 1/2 oz Grape Juice
  • 2 oz Ginger Ale
  • Lime Wedge for garnish

How To Make A Transfusion Cocktail

  1. Fill a highball glass with ice.
  2. Add vodka and grape juice, and give a quick stir.
  3. Top off with ginger ale.
  4. Add lime wedge to garnish.

For a cooler experience, chill your grape juice and ginger ale beforehand. This keeps the drink crisp and refreshing without diluting the flavors with too much ice.

Transfusion Cocktail Riff

Want to mix things up? Try the Transfusion Spritz! Replace ginger ale with sparkling wine for a bubbly twist. Add a splash of club soda if you want an extra fizz. Garnish with a sprig of mint for a refreshing finish.
