This Rossville Union rye was distilled by MGP in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. This is the same distillery behind Remus Repeal Reserve, Remus Gatsby Reserve, and 90% of the craft distilleries in America. Despite being distilled in Indiana, this is a Kentucky-style rye with a high-corn mash bill, so it drinks like a bourbon. This single barrel was hand-selected from 12 samples on January 29, 2021 in Washington, DC by Tracie Franklin, Caleb Santana, Pierre Auguste and OJ Lima. When MGP acquired Luxco last year, there were major staffing changes and our Rossville Union rye barrel vanished. We assumed it was gone forever, thus the name, the Lost One. But 12-months later, this pesky Rossville Union barrel proof rye mysteriously surfaced at the distributor's warehouse, bottled exclusively for Taste Select Repeat.

This one's a sleeper

It has a lot of corn in the mash bill so it drinks more like a bourbon than a traditional rye. It's a well-balanced combination of sweet and savory. I've tried a lot of rossville single barrels, and this one tops them all.

Keep The MGP Ryes Coming Please

I think people don't give MGP ryes enough time. Yes, they make great bourbons but their ryes are just as good. I would put this up against anything from Whistle Pig or any of the big distillers. This bottle has rye spices, with hard fruits and anise. I know I'm supposed to only drink this neat but let me tell you, it makes an insanely great Sazerac. Sorry, not sorry.
