Originally crafted in 1840, this yellow elixir, was inspired by the Elixir Végétal recipe. Father Garnier, a legal expert responsible for liqueurs, officially named it Chartreuse Jaune in 1852, securing the trademark "Chartreuse." At 86 proof (43% ABV), this liqueur, crafted by the Chartreuse Monks, endures as a testament to their artistry. Yellow Chartreuse has a blend of herbal and citrus notes that are very different than the flavors of Green Chartreuse. It's a versatile addition to cocktails that combine Chartreuse and gin or Chartreuse wine.

Happy Accident

I thought I was buying Green Chartreuse but got this by mistake. All I can say is, thank God for happy accidents. This is a lot mellower and sweeter than the green and I for one find it more drinkable on its own. Both are great in cocktails but I think I like this one more.
