Making A Mojito Is Easier Than You Think

There's no need to buy mojito mix, which is overloaded with artificial sweeteners, when the real mojito recipe only requires five simple ingredients: white rum, sugar, lime juice, soda water, and mint. This classic Caribbean cocktail originated in Cuba, and is meant to be light and refreshing. There are also several popular fruit variations including the strawberry mojito, watermelon mojito, blueberry mojito, and coconut mojito. No matter which one you choose to serve, this mojito recipe works for all of them.

  • 2 oz White Rum
  • 1 oz Fresh Lime Juice
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Cane Sugar
  • 8-10 Fresh Mint Leaves
  • 2 oz Soda Water
  • Ice Cubes
  • Lime wheel and Mint Sprig

Mojito Recipe

  1. Combine mint, sugar and lime juice in a sturdy glass and muddle until sugar begins to dissolve.
  2. Add white rum and muddle again.
  3. Gently fill the glass with ice cubes.
  4. Top it off with soda water.
  5. Stir gently.
  6. Garnish with a lime wheel and a sprig of mint.

Pro-Tip If you're making a batch, prepare it in a cocktail mixer and strain into individual glasses filled with ice. You can use agave syrup instead of cane sugar to simply the process. Slap the mint leaves between your palms before adding them. This releases the herb's aromatic oils and intensifies the flavor.

Hot Remix Muddle your fruit of choice along with the mint to switch it up. Or, swap white rum for dark rum, which adds a caramel-spiced flavor for those seeking a bolder cocktail.
