The Honey Deuce Cocktail Will Have You Saying Game, Set, Mix
What the Mint Julep is to the Kentucky Derby, the Honey Deuce is to the US Open Tennis Championships. It's the official drink of the tournament, which occurs at the end of summer each year at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center and Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, New York. Created in 2007, it mixes the crispness of vodka with the tartness of raspberry liqueur and fresh lemonade and is perfect for sipping while watching world-class tennis under the sun. The most essential part, however, is the garnish of mellonballs skewered on a straw, which ends up looking like a minature tennis ball.
Honey Deuce Ingredients
- 2 oz Vodka
- 3 oz Fresh Lemonade
- 1/2 oz Raspberry Liqueur
- Honeydew Melon Balls, for garnish
How To Make A Honey Deuce
- Fill a chilled highball glass with ice.
- Pour the vodka over the ice, followed by the fresh lemonade.
- Gently drizzle the raspberry liqueur on top, allowing it to float slightly.
- Garnish with honeydew melon balls, skewered and resting on the rim of the glass.
Use a melon baller to create perfect, tennis ball-like spheres for the garnish, adding a fun touch to this already iconic drink.
Honey Deuce Riff
For a tropical twist, substitute the raspberry liqueur with passion fruit liqueur and swap the honeydew balls for pineapple cubes. This version adds a burst of tropical flavor while maintaining the drink's refreshing qualities.
